During the interview, Lo highlighted Laserfiche as a company that helps organizations “go clean and green and get all that clutter out of your environment.” When he asked if Laserfiche is the “digital equivalent of microfiche,” Wacker pointed out that Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) is far superior because it manages all types of organizational content, including audio and video files, e-mail, photos, instant messages and more—something microfiche could never do.

Our customers use Laserfiche to enable intelligent routing of all types of content and facilitate smart, swift decision-making.”

Financial institutions comprise approximately 15% of the Laserfiche customer base and report benefits including increased operational efficiency, faster audits, and easier compliance with industry regulations. With the recent opening of the new Laserfiche office in Hong Kong, financial institutions situated in the Pacific Rim now have enhanced local support for their Laserfiche implementations.

LONG BEACH, CA (Laserfiche)—October 26, 2009—Laserfiche today announced that it has opened an office in Hong Kong to capitalize on the enormous potential for business in the booming Asia Pacific region. Under the guidance of Managing Director Phyllis Chen, the Hong Kong office will make Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) more accessible to customers in the Pacific Rim.

“Establishing an office in Hong Kong, with its dynamic, high-growth economy, was a natural next step for Laserfiche,” said Nien-Ling Wacker, Laserfiche president and CEO. “We’ve experienced significant international expansion over the past several years, and our new Hong Kong office will enable us to better support our Pacific Rim customers and drive increased business growth.”

Laserfiche to support new Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 integration opportunities, providing clients with significant enterprise content management (ECM) benefits

LONG BEACH, CA (Laserfiche) Oct. 19, 2009—Laserfiche® today announced it is geared to support new features for its Agile ECM framework using the enhanced capabilities of the upcoming release of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. Laserfiche will add an ADO.NET provider to its existing SharePoint Server 2010 integration to enable access to Laserfiche data from Business Connectivity Services. Federated search will be supported to retrieve documents using Laserfiche’s search engine at the same time a SharePoint repository is searched. Records Management document categorization will be enhanced through the use of SharePoint Server 2010 Business Connectivity Services. Document content will be more finely tuned to match the topic of portal pages.

Laserfiche’s integration with SharePoint 2010 maximizes the strengths of both systems: While SharePoint 2010 adds collaboration portal functionality to an organization’s infrastructure, Laserfiche provides document imaging and content management that is scalable and easy to implement and use. “Companies are now looking to new ways to manage their information infrastructure with cost effective ECM systems that will streamline processes and easily improve adherence to enterprise compliance requirements,” said Tom Wayman, Laserfiche Vice President of Product Strategy. “Laserfiche complements the SharePoint platform supporting developers and users who need to extend their collaboration, scan images, and set up workflows to quickly respond to business needs.”

“People want more choice and flexibility in how, where, and when they work,” said Owen Allen, SharePoint senior product manager, Microsoft Corp. “Laserfiche is built on the SharePoint 2010 platform to offer customers a way to achieve richer and better collaboration and productivity using SharePoint 2010.”

“Given Laserfiche’s experience and dedication to the Microsoft suite of technology, we believe it delivers a complete offering to customers seeking an integrated content management and SharePoint 2010 solution,” said Jerry Carnley, CIO of Spindletop MHMR (a community mental health center). Spindletop has evolved as an innovator of technology among the community centers of east Texas (covering about 30% of counties in Texas) that store and access data on the SharePoint Server farm housed at Spindletop.

“Laserfiche provided custom templates that allow our users to scan 10 times more content than before the custom templates were implemented,” added Carnley. “Also, the Web interface provided by Laserfiche allows us to properly and securely archive this sensitive data in a responsible way that is accessible from anywhere on the private MPLS network that connects all 10 community centers.” Laserfiche value-added reseller DynaSource successfully integrated Laserfiche Web Access with Spindletop’s SharePoint Server-powered Intranet.

The Laserfiche customer base and community of developers are eager to start working on integrations with SharePoint 2010 to leverage new features and support them when available. With the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 fast approaching, Laserfiche looks forward to the unveiling of SharePoint Server 2010 and to continuing its tradition of a firm alignment with Microsoft technology.

Quick Fields 8 provides a document imaging and capture front end for the Laserfiche ECM suite

LONG BEACH, CA (Laserfiche) Sept. 9, 2009—Laserfiche today announced the release of Quick Fields 8™, a document imaging and capture front-end for the Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) product suite that represents a breakthrough in configurable forms processing for the enterprise.

“Establishing a capture and forms processing standard can unlock an impressive ROI,” said Laserfiche Vice President of Product Management Tom Wayman. “Quick Fields 8 is tactically deployable, so each department can customize capture and image processing for their own forms, documents, and data. And because Quick Fields simplifies capture for a variety of content, IT departments easily improve adherence to enterprise compliance requirements.”

To extend possibilities for integrating Quick Fields into existing business processes, IT staff can run custom processes on document components and return them to Quick Fields for further processing, use the included scripting kit to run custom C# and VB.NET scripts or exchange data with outside databases and applications.

“With the new scripting kit, Quick Fields 8 is even more powerful and compelling,” said Bill Peyton of IP Digital, Inc., a systems integrator specializing in ECM deployments. “While Quick Fields 8 can do almost anything necessary for capture and forms processing right out of the box, with the scripting kit, it’s now possible to quickly develop customizations to fit any organization’s specific circumstances.”

Quick Fields 8 also offers a range of new features, including a revamped user interface with movable panes, customizable toolbars and collapsible menus, to improve customization. Administrators can configure the exact fields operators need to see, in the format they prefer, to optimize processing and data entry speed. And with a new auto-annotation feature, document processing can include the automatic redaction of secure information, benefiting organizations that formerly couldn’t distribute documents due to data security issues.

“Since 2003, Quick Fields has provided an edge over other capture programs by allowing reprocessing of archived documents,” added Wayman. “This extraction, transformation and loading capability enable enterprises to mine their content for new insights by reprocessing forms and gathering new data.”

LONG BEACH, CA (Laserfiche) July 9, 2009—Laserfiche® today announced the release of WebLink 8™, a customizable Website that provides content portals for public-facing Websites or extranets.

“WebLink 8 significantly expands Laserfiche’s enterprise content management offering, especially in the area of Web content management,” said Laserfiche Vice President of Product Management, Tom Wayman. “WebLink enables IT managers to generate a portal site based on a database, without coding or programming. And with WebLink 8’s new built-in customization and layout tools, it serves as a management tool for your public Web portal.”

“WebLink has revolutionized the Clerk of Courts’ office business processes,” said IS Department Project Supervisor Mary Jane McCluskey for York County, PA. With WebLink, York County provides document access not just to citizens, but also to users in 19 Magisterial District Judge offices located throughout the county.

“District judges can now research and access court documents at their convenience, without traveling to the Clerk’s office,” said McCluskey. “Using WebLink public access terminals, citizens can conduct public records searches without taking a clerk’s time away from other valuable duties.”

WebLink 8 makes it simple to provide documents to Web searchers. Documents open directly to the desired page with the search term highlighted. Customized searches guide users to the results they’re looking for, with search terms, thumbnails and additional document information displayed in the search results.

To further extend access to public searchers, WebLink sites can now be crawled by internet search engines, so documents in WebLink can be found the same way users find other pages on the Internet. Users can also stay connected with folder content updates and search results through an RSS feed. And to expand mobile access, WebLink offers support for the iPhone and Android mobile devices.
Economist Intelligence Unit research suggests balance between IT control and user flexibility needed to achieve enterprise innovation

ORLANDO, FL(Laserfiche)– June 8, 2009 — Laserfiche will present “Agile ECM and the Dynamic Portal Experience” at Gartner’s Portals, Content & Collaboration (PCC) Summit June 8-10, at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, FL. In addition, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) will present research conducted on behalf of Laserfiche.

The three-day summit is centered on better ways to deliver resources and streamline content delivery and storage. “Businesses can’t afford to wait for the storm to end before they begin to strategize for business growth support,” said Brian LaPointe, Vice President of Strategic Solutions at Laserfiche and session speaker. “Companies need to look to new ways to manage already high IT project loads, and an agile ECM system is the tool they need to streamline processes and help identify new profit opportunities.”

The Tuesday, June 9, 3:15-4:15 p.m., session will include findings from a recent EIU global survey and part of a research report titled Disciplined Autonomy: Resolving the tension between flexibility and control. The report, sponsored by Laserfiche, concluded that the more employees feel empowered, the more productive they tend to be.

EIU Research Director, Americas, Nigel Holloway, who will participate in the presentation said, “Standardization leads to greater efficiency and more effective corporate governance. Organizations may find it increasingly difficult to centralize back-office functions, particularly in regards to technology. Instead, IT leaders should look to define standards that add transparency and efficiency to the flow of information across the organization.”

Further, Mark Gilbert, Gartner Vice President of Research and PCC Summit Chair, will kick off the session with a look at how to stop fighting your users and give them the freedom to do better.

The Summit brings together C-level executives with analysts and industry experts for more than 40 in-depth sessions focused on new ways to access, search, structure and manage information to improve organizational productivity and efficiency through collaboration and social software.

Laserfiche is a Premier Sponsor at this event. Representatives on site will demonstrate (booth #2) Rio, a fully scalable ECM system that is easy to purchase and deploy across the information-heavy enterprise. They will also be presenting the Laserfiche-SharePoint integration, which maximizes the strengths of both systems; while SharePoint adds collaboration portal functionality to Microsoft Office, Laserfiche provides best-in-class document imaging and content management.
